8:46 am - old school part II
Its funny how standards can change over the years. These were my 9th grade "requirements" for finding my perfect guy, in order (not sure if the order meant anything at the time. I kind of hope not), word for word:

taller than me but not too tall
tan
athletic
brilliant
really likes learning
talkative
outgoing
smiles with teeth showing
funny
blue eyes
accent of some sort
smiles in yearbook picture
class clown
weird in a lovable way
nice speaking and singing voice
nice at heart
fun
daring
goes on roller coasters
open minded
rich
enigmatic in that interesting way
strong, but no muscles unless flexed
nice abs
nice ass
lots of talents
knows random facts
spontaneous
thoughtful but not in a fruity way
easy to talk to
lovable faults

I imagine my list today would be:
genuinely nice
honest with others and with themselves

I'm not sure if that constitutes me moving forward or backward.

from thedaan
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.

This time round the show was the 12-day public humiliation of British sailors and marines who were captured by Revolutionary Guards in the Persian Gulf and were due to be released on April 4. Day after day Iranian television broadcast the spectacle, part farce and part menace, of the hapless Britons taking turns to confess their "tresspassing" into Iranian territorial waters, apologise for their misdeed and praise the kindness of the Iranian aurthorities. Handwritten letters from the one woman in the group, Faye Turney, professed friendship with the Iranian people and demanded the withdrawal of British forces from Iraq.

I need a job for the summer. Badly.

The idea of not getting a job scares and excites me. Scary because I need money. Exciting because please oh please I don't want to work in an office again I don't want to sit there and type in numbers and wear oppressing clothes and uncomfortable heels that give me blisters when I walk more than two feet and function as a machine I am so much more than their machine and I would rather give up all of the money in the world than let them take away my humanity and my creativity and my free will and turn me into something little more than a glorified robot.

Oh, and the minor detail that my parents would kill me.

I was just in the laundry room looking through the "lost and found pile" of things that got mixed into other people's wash, left in the dryer, etc. to make sure none of it was mine. My eye caught a GIANT thong. I mean giant. Think sumo wrestler. So I did what any normal (crazy?) person would do; out of extreme curiousity, I absolutely had to check the tag on this giant thong to see the size. Maybe it was a way to say to myself "see, this size XXXL woman is comfortable with her body, you should be too!"

Of course, a very large girl walks in at the very moment that I am examining said piece of underwear. I'm not sure if it was hers, but I wasn't about to go into my explanation just in case it was. I put it down hurriedly and spent the next 10 minutes folding laundry in the most awkward silence of my life.

Yes, the quality of my once-every-six-months LJ updates is going seriously downhill, I know.

8:50 pm - Null Set
Today I did nothing. Yesterday I did nothing. The day before that, I did nothing. I'm not positive, but I think I'm starting to sense a pattern.

It's not even an "I've done so much this past semester that I need a break" type of nothing. It's more of an "I've done nothing this past year, and I've really enjoyed it, so I'm going to continue to do nothing" nothing.

Nothing.

If I hear the words "cha cha, real smooth" one more time, somebody is going to die.

Campus Food's "Dance 'n Eat" (Read: attempt to justify charging me $14 for a salad) is slowly and painfully driving me insane.

Pi was a bad movie. I'm convinced that its cult following consists of people afraid to say it was bad for fear of being perceived as dumb.

So apparently my school is just a bunch of U2-loving, Ayn Rand-worshipping liberals...weird.

In other news, I walked over the compass. Take that, compass. I WIN. I ALREADY WON. IT'S TOO LATE FOR YOU NOW.

In other other news, I need sleep.
